Broad Functions

Collection, compilation and tabulation of statistical data on socio-economic sectors of the Province.

To prepare and issue statistical publications to disseminate statistical information.

To undertake censuses and surveys and to prepare their reports.

To prepare basic socio-economic indicators of the province.

To identify and eliminate duplication in provincial statistics.

To extend technical guidance and assistance to other provincial statistical cells as and when required, with reference to their technical problems in designing, conducting censuses and surveys, processing of data and preparing their statistical reports.

To act as a liaison between Federal and Provincial governments on statistical matters and serve as secretariat for the provincial statistical council.

To build up a sound and effective provincial statistical database to meet the provincial requirements within the framework of national statistical system.

To adopt the recommendations of the national statistical council for collection of statistics.

To follow the national statistical standards and procedures in collection, tabulation and presentation of various statistical series.

To provide the guidance on electronic data processing to various provincial departments.
